With over 30 years of experience as a bicultural and bilingual international school college counselor and educator, Joon Myong embodies a deep commitment to guiding students towards academic, social, and emotional growth. His journey in education began as a teacher and coach, igniting a passion for inspiring teens to reach their fullest potential. Transitioning to college counseling two decades ago, Joon found his calling in supporting students through one of life's most transformative journeys.

Throughout his illustrious career, Joon has left his mark on educational communities across the globe, from Montgomery County (Maryland, USA) to Eritrea (Africa), Singapore, and Korea. Armed with double Bachelor's degrees in Biology and Education from the University of Maryland, along with a Master's degree in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, Joon brings a wealth of expertise to his practice. His commitment to ongoing professional development is evident through his pursuit of coursework as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through Fuller Seminary (California, USA) and National University (California, USA).
Beyond his academic accolades, Joon's passion for athletics permeates every aspect of his life. With decades of experience coaching varsity soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and golf, he understands the unique challenges and opportunities that student-athletes encounter in the college admissions process. This combination of athletic insight and counseling expertise makes him uniquely qualified to support students in achieving their academic and athletic aspirations.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Joon finds joy and fulfillment in his role as a husband and father. Together with his fellow educator wife, they share the pride of raising two remarkable children. Their son, a WashU in St. Louis student-athlete graduate and engineer, and their daughter, currently pursuing studies in hospitality business management at Les Roches in Switzerland, stand as testaments to Joon's unwavering dedication to education and empowerment.
